Simple, Fresh and Fun/Spring 2004

Greetings from The Ferry House! I’m sure we’re all in agreement that Spring is here and not a moment too soon!

Bobby Trigg and The Ferry House will once again be donating their time and efforts by taking part in the Annual “Taste of the Nation” Benefit being held at The Doral Forrestal Hotel in Princeton, NJ, on April 19th, 2004 from 6:30 to 9:00 PM. We encourage you to come on out and support a great cause and see what Bobby’s got cookin’. Princeton’s Taste of the Nation, now in it’s thirteenth year, has raised over $500,000.00 for local hunger relief programs such as “Homefront”, “Isles, Inc”, “Mercer Street Friends Food Cooperative” and the “Trenton Area Soup Kitchen”. National Sponsorship, combined with local sponsorships and the contributions of participating restaurants and wineries, food suppliers, local vendors, media and local donors, ensure that Taste of the Nation can donate 100% of ticket sales from the event to these programs. For more information, visit them at: http://www.tasteofthenation.org/site/Clubs?club_id=1066&pg=main.

  • We’re happy to say that Spring Ingredients are starting to arrive. Among them are Morel Mushrooms, Ramps (onion family), Fiddle Head Ferns and Wild Asparagus. Soft Shell Crabs should be arriving around Mother’s Day.
  • Bobby got back to his Lambertville roots by donating a Dinner for Six at the home of the highest bidder to The Lambertville Area Education Foundation. The LEF is able to continue to bring innovative educational experiences to the children of the Lambertville Public School as well as those at South Hunterdon Regional High School. This is a charity that Bobby was involved with in the past and wanted to continue to give back to the community that gave him his start.
  • Bobby and our Event Coordinator attended a Celebration of 20 Years of “The Book and the Cook” at Susanna Foo’s in Philadelphia on March 19th, 2004. They are pictured here with the evening’s Celebrity Guest Chef Ming Tsai of Blue Ginger in Wellesley, Massachusetts and of the Food Network show “East Meets West”.
  • Bobby was out the Door at 2:00AM on the morning of March 29th, on his way to The Fulton Fish Market with his good friend and wholesale Fish Monger, Jack Morrison, Owner and Operator of Nassau Street Seafood and Blue Point Grille, in Princeton. Ironically, Bobby made it there on the week that the World Famous Market was celebrating it’s 100th Year Anniversary.

Having made the trip many times in the past, it brought back many good memories for Bobby. If you want to check it out, do it soon. They will be moving the landmark business to Hunts Point, NY in just a couple of months. While there Bobby discovered a new farm raised scallop from Chile that is harvested and shipped in its shell with the roe. Look for this one to make an appearance real soon at The Ferry House as a Special.
